CONCENTRATION IMPROVED-ART OF SUPER CONCENTRATION


All the students know what to study when to study, how to study but still many of us are not able to do so. One of the biggest problem in the current day and age is lack of concentration. Concentration can be directly proportional to your level of efficiency. What your friend is able to understand in 15 minutes and you are taking it 30 minutes to get it. Not just in studies concentration decides a person efficiency in many everyday activities.

Let's discuss some way to master the art of super-concentration.


1. Avoid Multitasking


In our fast-paced life, we generally end up becoming a multitasking person. Which is one way good that we learn to multitask but since the world is full of duality. We can't escape the duality here also.
When that becomes our regular lifestyle then mind also get habituated to be a multitasker and lose the ability to focus on one thing for prolong period of time.



So if you want to focus on and improve your efficiency then learn to do one thing at a time. For example, you are eating also chatting on phone with someone and talking with a friend.

Even if you want to do multiple things at time experiments have proved that better is to do one thing at a time and complete them one by one instead of trying to do all of them together.

Concentration means focusing on one thing and withdrawing your mind from everything else. A multitasker is surely going to have a problem while concentrating.




2. Plan 


Unless you plan and give a target to your mind it is not going to focus at all. The tendency of the mind is always going for easy way always. Especially during the exam times or when we have project submission date we are highly efficient. One the day of the exam we are totally focused on studies.  The reason is the mind has a target to achieve.

Try to apply the same principle on the other days as well not just on exam days by giving a target to the mind. Whenever you sit to study plan that in this much time today I will cover up this much syllabus or solve these many problems.

The target given should be a little bit competitive so that the mind is working hard. Target shouldn't be too much unrealistic to be achieved neither too easy. In both the cases, the mind will give up.



3. Pranayam Yoga


As I have mentioned earlier also that living in today's fast-paced life has made the mind very hyperactive and when we try to concentrate one thing the mind is very restless. Trying to calm down the mind is really a big task. Breathing exercise like Pranayam will surely help for this.

The word 'Prana' means the 'life force'   &  'Ayam' means to control or to extend. When we are hyperactive our breathing automatically is increased like in case of anger, excitement, hurry, nervousness etc. This science deals with controlling the mind by breathe control.

Results of Pranayama:-

1. The mind gets a habit of concentration
2. Oxygenates the brain
3. Release anxiety & clears the foggy mind
4. The cluttered contemplation becomes pinpointed.
5. Calming the mind.


 Not only concentration it will improve memory retention as well. Also, it has many other benefits on health. Try this everyday early morning.

4.Meditation


Just like the sun rays when focussed through the microscope can burn the paper similarly  if the art of concentration is mastered one can become highly efficient.
The ancient Vedic text speaks elaborately on controlling the mind. One of the ways is meditation.
In the market as of now available methods of meditation are:-

1.Metta Meditation
2.Object Meditation
3.Breath Awareness Meditation
4.Mindfulness Meditation
5.Transcendental Meditation/Mantra Meditation
6.Zen Meditation

As per the recommendation of Vedic text and as per our topic the Transcendental Meditation/Mantra Meditation is best for us.


As for a woodcutter has a target of cutting a certain number of woods in a day and if he thinks that sharpening of the axe is the waste of time. It can be the biggest mistake and a big blunder because the axe will become blunt after some time. He has to take some time out to sharpen the axe.

Similarly, we lose our ability to focus and concentrate throughout the day. If we think such meditation is waste of time. It is like woodcutter thinking sharpening of the axe is waste of time.
Take some time out and do mantra meditation.



Conclusion:-

1. Do one thing at a time. Multitasking reduces the ability to concentrate and to be productive.
2. Give a target to mind. Mind doesn't wander if a goal is supposed to be achieved.
     e.g concentration level on the day of the exam and any other day( see the difference in concentration)
